The Branch History
The BB&N Group was originally set up on a cold wet winter’s evening in 1999.
The meeting was the result of a request to the National Club to circulate a letter to the National members living in the MK and NN postcode areas to see if there was any interest in setting up a local Group, some 78 letters were sent out. Historically, there had been a branch near Milton Keynes called the Ouse Valley branch, but this had fairly much ceased to exist, so it was decided to try and set up a new group from scratch. Twelve people attended that first meeting and a number are still active members of the Branch. The Group became a Branch in 2001
Initially we just met in our pub on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. After about 2 years we started to meet on the last Sunday of the month for a run out. These two traditions have been maintained ever since. We don’t tend to hold camping weekends but do arrange branch activities including weekends away and try to visit other branch events during the year.
We do not operate a system of branch subs or get involved with being too officious, we do it for the love of the bikes. Everyone is welcome to join us to talk bikes and stuff. Visiting national members are made especially welcome.
We have a simple philosophy, bikes are our leisure enjoyment and so the branch does not take itself too seriously and takes a relaxed approach to most things.
